O projeto de inclusão digital do governo Federal, chamado Casa Brasil, receberá R$ 224 milhões em 2005. O valor aprovado pelo Congresso Nacional na semana passada (29/12), em sessão conjunta da Câmara dos Deputados e do Senado Federal.
Na ocasião, foi divulgado o Orçamento Geral da União, que teve receitas e despesas estipuladas em R$ 1,6 trilhão.
O Casa Brasil permitirá aos moradores das áreas mais carentes ter acesso às rede além de garantir capacitação profissional para a área de tecnologia.
A emenda no orçamento foi apresentada pela Comissão de Ciência e Tecnologia da Câmara e os recursos para o projeto serão executados pelo Ministério da Ciência e Tecnologia.
Com a aprovação desse orçamento, a expectativa é que mil unidades do Casa Brasil sejam construídas em 2005. Pelo projeto, todas as bases terão software livre, com o sistema operacional Linux, suíte de escritório Open Office e o navegador Mozilla.
